Why not take advantage of the spring in your step and switch up your skin routine? From tossing out old products to choosing a lighter moisturiser, we’ve got your new season transition covered with these tips.
1. Buff away winter skin
Legs! Arms! They’re out! Maybe not just yet, but don’t forget to show them some love. Wave goodbye to dry, flaky, winter skin with an exfoliating mitt (in the shower) and follow up with a moisturiser – apply while skin’s still damp for an extra hydration boost! Get all the effects of a facial the easy way with an exfoliating face scrub, and buff away dead skin cells, which can leave spring skin looking a little dull. Ready. Set. Glow!
2. Try something new
Now you’ve nailed the spring skincare basics, it’s time to have a little fun, so why not try out a new skincare treat? Insta feed in sheet mask mania? Get in on the action with a Simple Kind to Skin Rich Moisture Sheet Mask to help alleviate signs of dry skin (with its clever blend of skin-loving vitamins). Fifteen minutes is all it takes to get glowing, and you can double-up and use the time to catch up on your WhatsApp chats, listen to that podcast, or just dance around. Why not? It’s spring after all!
3. Moisturise more
Skin has been hiding. Necks and ears have snuggled under scarves and hats…until now! We so often forget these spots – but they can get really dry, dehydrated and irritated (especially from the friction of winter woollens). Has your neck escaped from the polo neck at last?
After exfoliating, moisturise one last time with a rich cream, then switch it out for a lighter non-comedogenic lotion for the new season. Why? As temperatures ramp up, so too can our skin’s oil production. And yes, we tend to sweat more too. A lighter lotion will help to keep pores clear to avoid overloading spring skin with excess oil as the weather warms up.
4. Lighten up
Springtime generally means lighter make-up. Gone are the deep, burgundy lipsticks of the festive season, and lighter lipstick shades in peaches and pinks (plus the dewy skin trend) are incoming. Switching to lighter cleansers will lightly grab away make-up and hydrate spring skin, without clogging pores or leaving a sticky residue, which can lead to unwanted breakouts. No thank you!
5. Spring clean your skincare shelf
Ah, we all have those products. The ones at the back of the bathroom shelf collecting dust! We so often forget to spring clean our bathroom and sometimes these products can be well beyond their best before dates, which may cause skin irritation if we use them. Why not refresh your trusted trio of basics (cleanser, toner and moisturiser)?
